Wang Burma Cave & Timah Tasoh

This is long overdue. At last, photos of my Wang Burma Cave adventure.

There's bats, frogs,lizards and spiders inside. Lots of small little creatures. There's even small crabs.

The cave was dark and without a torchlight, you can't even see your hands in front of you. It was fun but pretty scary if you're afraid of darkness. I was paranoid that something will bite me when I wade through the water in the cave and I got my sport shoes filled with sand. It was a great trip which I think I will never go again. The place is so damn far at the border of Perlis and Thailand. I keep imagining someone telling me "Welcome to Thailand. If you like ah kua please turn left, if you like guys please turn right..." =.=

Then we took a detour to Timah Tasoh Lake. It looks really calm and windy. Such a nice place. i would have enjoyed it if I wasn't that tired. I had a sleepless night and only manage to sleep at 5am that morning and woke up at 7am. So, I was exhausted. The view was so nice and I saw 3 set of couples taking wedding photos. A must come place for wedding photography I guess.

Wang Kelian & Timah Tasoh

Finally, I got myself to Wang Kelian and Timah Tasoh. Wang Kelian was so far =.=The to and fro journey is almost the petrol used for my journey home from Perlis to Penang. The journey was like going uphill to Genting and then going downhill again. The curves and turns were steep and sharp.

Wang Kelian is a place where we can cross border to Thailand to shop. There's so many cars and a lot of people. There's not much to buy though unless you want to go and eat. There's plenty of junk food and lot's of fried stuff. Or if you want to buy batik or cookery, there's plenty of that too.

Timah Tasoh Lake. There's a resort there. The scenery there is amazing. I didn't bring a camera so I didn't take any photos. I was way too tired to pose even for a photo. We had head out to Wang Burma cave before we went to the Lake, so you could see everyone was exhausted. but of course, we manage to pose for a few photos before going back.

P.S. I shall show you my trip to the Wang Burma Cave when I get the photos. What an adventure it was.

127 Hours, Bowling and Rock Cafe

How funny I look in this photo.

Last Friday, my uni-mates and I went for a night trip to Alor Setar. A trip like that cost more than going home to Penang. But I did had fun although I have to say, I was totally freaked out by the way someone drove. Excuse me, I value my life even if you don't. It was raining damn heavily and you drove like 120km/h. Please remind me next time not to sit in that car.

We went for dinner at Rock Cafe which looks nice. The food was just okay though. I shall update about it next time. And oh..we went for midnight bowling. I won :)

We went to watch the 9.15pm screening of 127 Hours. I knew the story behind this movie but watching on a big screen was pretty gruesome. The whole movie is about Aron Ralston, a mountain climber who became trapped by a boulder in Robbers Roost, Utah , for more than five days in early 2003 before amputating his arm with a dull knife. The movie is true story for those of you who don't know about it.

As I knew the whole story it was a bit less suspense to me considering I knew that he will cut his arm and survives. The people in the cinema was seating at the edge of their seats watching the movie I think. It seems pretty interesting for a mostly one-man movie. We can see James Franco, the actor basically almost alone the whole movie.

This whole movie is about Aron, how he got trapped by a boulder and stuck there for 127 hours with only his mountain climbing gear, a multi-tool (which he use to chip away the boulder but it was useless), a walkman, video camera, a bottle of water and some food. As he didn't notify anyone about where he is going, he was only waiting for death to come because his hand was stuck and no one was around for miles.

So, while bordering hallucination and sanity, his past memories and experiences of his life appears in front of him. He began to dream of the future where he sees himself without an arm but living happily with a son. We see him getting serious about really dying there and leaves a message to his family. (I admire his way of being calm and planning his 'escape' from the boulder.) Thus, after five days, he finally gathered enough courage to amputate his arm by breaking it against the boulder and then slowly cutting through it using the blunt knife and pliers. (The scene in the movie was way gruesome especially when he was cutting through his flesh and muscles. Gross~)

Almost bleeding to death, he has to rappel down from the mountain and hike several miles before finally finding a family of hikers that saves him.

The movie ends with real photos and footage of the real Aron Ralston still climbing mountains and including the son who he claims save his life as he decided he wanted to live and see the son that he has dreamt of during his 127 hours.

Would you have had the courage to amputate your arm if you were stuck underneath a boulder? I find myself thinking that if I was trapped, I guess I would have done the same thing as he did if I really found no other option but the fact is it would be so so painful that I don't know if I would have the same courage like he did to do all that.

Balik Pulau Food Trip

Had a very satisfying, fulfilling, and belly bursting food trip at Balik Pulau today. Ju took us for a road trip around Balik Pulau today. The houses were really nice but it's a bit too far from town. If not, living there would be great. Balik Pulau seems bigger than I thought, there were many houses and plenty of area in development.

We went for a round of Pasembur at the Balik Pulau New Market with a glass of Nutmeg juice. (I forgot to take a photo though. I finish eating and only realised.) Next was a round of Laksa. This time at the Balik Pulau Old Market. The distance of the two places is around 1 to 2km away. I don't eat Asam Laksa so I had the Lemak Laksa. It was really nice except for the vege. I don't like the vege but the soup was great. (I started eating only to realise I didn't take a photo. So I took one and continue eating.)

Everyone was saying how full they were after eating Pasembur and Laksa but we ended up eating a bowl of Tau Hua. Tau Hua break!!! Hehe. Tau hua with soya bean milk and brown sugar syrup..yum yum yummy!!


It seems lately all I ever posted up are my food trips. It's the only thing I do lately actually. My life is not much fun, no travel or life changing experiences but there's always food. :)))

And here's a BIG THANKS to Ju for my very early birthday gift. A unique stainless steel bangle from Bausch K. Thank you so much. I love it and I shall treasure it. ^__^

Food trips during CNY

Whenever there's CNY, I eat a lot. But who cares, CNy is a time to celebrate and eat!!!

My first time having Old Trafford Burger. I had a Lamb Cheese Burger. It was yummy albeit being oily and unhealthy. Once again, who cares!!!

Chicken rice at some famous stall near the Air Asia company in town. It was nice too. The soy sauce is a bit too salty for me though but if you mix it with rice then it's nice.

Indian food and hotel stay.

Oops..I forgot to note down the name of the restaurant. It's located at the same stretch as Ingolf. It was quite nice. We had Kachumber Salad, Chettinad Filter Coffee (which to me is just like normal coffee), Tandoori Chicken Set (I ate it with cheese naan). The whole meal was fulfilling. I was hungry when I entered the restaurant and came out full.

And also, we had a hotel stay. Played Monopoly Deal and drank a bottle of vodka refresher in cranberry flavour. It taste just like cough med. Remind me not to be tricked by berry flavoured alchoholic drinks again. The view from the hotel balcony at Paradise Sandy Beach Resort. I forgot to take a view of the beach before it turn dark. :( And I didn't take a photo of the room too...Yikes..I'm so forgetful.

Alorr Setarrrr.............

I've been to Alor Star like thrice for 3 years I've studied in Perlis. Yes, I may have drive through Alor Star on my way to Perlis but I haven't really explore much of Alor Star. 3 times is very little for me I think, some people have already gone there for so many times since Kangar is like 50 minutes away and buses are regularly available to go to Alor Star if you want to.

Blame the laziness and money to the fact that I don't travel much. When you travel, you spend unnecessary money. I recently agreed to go down with my course-mates to Alor Star, I guess 3 weeks ago? Haven't been updating much hence the late posting.

Well, since CNY is coming and I was in the mood so I agreed to it. I spend like RM100 there I think. Please remind me again not to spend. =.= I bought a pink bag, a vest, a hairband and an eyeliner there and ate till I was very full. So, money well spend I guess. I been to malls in Alor Star but never really went around its city. Shall I make another trip to tour around?

We went to Cafe Xantana for dinner that night. My first time there. The food was pretty nice. Love the tomyam. It was hot, delicious and full of seafood. I shall go again when I have the chance to. I think this trip was good because I did had fun and it was sort of a gathering of uni friends. I rarely do go out with them because I feel awkward around them even after 3 years but I guess this was a chance to know them better. :)

Sushi and Shopping...

I went shopping again today...haha. I've been going to so many shopping malls lately. I am back for the weekend with Pei Mun (uni is too boring, we had to come back for some fun) and we went shopping for CNY clothes even though I already got like 6 outfits already. ^^ She has not bought any thus this trip is more for her than me.

I didn't buy any clothes though. I did buy a pair of shoes. But that's later down in my post. First, I'll like to pay tribute to Sushi King for giving me a chance to have cheap and nice sushi. Hehe.

Bento Set Pei Mun ate...

It's my first time at Prangin Mall's Sushi King. The service was not bad although the food came quite slow. The food at this chain store was pretty good. (It's so much better than the Sakae Sushi at Gurney...that was just not nice.) We spend around RM 5o something eating there and thanks to a borrowed Sushi King card, we get to save around Rm5. I love discounts!!!

We did went around three shopping malls shopping, Prangin Mall, Komtar, and 1st Avenue. (I'm annoyed that Cotton On hasn't open its store yet. I'm waiting for it.) I did found a pair of shoe. I saw another that I like better but that was over RM50, I'm stingy...I'll wait till I come back right before CNY to go check out if there's a sale then. Kekeke. But I did buy a pair for RM39.90. I don't know if it's a mistake but what the heck, I'll just enjoy this shopping mood of mine. ^__^

And here's one of my CNY clothes that I bought. Mom bought it for me at the market. Love the colour and the empire waist that hides my belly fat. Haha. I still want to buy a pair of shorts, a pair of ballerina flats and one white dress. I don't know what's wrong with me but I'm having the urge to buy a white dress. Still searching for the right one. One that doesn't show I'm fat and is affordable will be the right one. :)))))

I'll include this pineapple tarts into this post simply because I want to...haha. Grandma bought it for me from KL a month ago at Tong Kee Bakery. I love their egg-tarts and these pineapple tarts are pretty nice too. A bit sweet though. Suitable for people with sweet tooth.
