First Love 2010

This is definitely a must watch especially for those of you who like me, adore romantic movies. The movie is funny, heartwarming and so sweet at the same time. Even if I don't understand Thai, there's always the subtitles..hehe. And of course it helps a lot that the main actor is such a hottie. He is so cute~~ The actress is also very very pretty. Thai people really are beautiful.

The synopsis:
First Love (Crazy Little Thing Called Love), is about a schoolgirl and her undying crush on the school’s heartthrob jock, portrayed by Mario Maurer.

The ordinary 14 year old girl, named Nam, played by Pimchanok Luevisetpaibool, is at first an ugly duckling nerd with glasses. Nam is unattractive or what the other girls jeer saying she has a bug face. But she's always been secretly in love with an older guy in grade 10 called Chon, the most popular student in high-school. He's hot, perfect and generous, and that's what makes girls go crazy about him, including Nam too. But she doesn't give up easily.

Over one summer, she ditches the spectacles and has her skin lightened. She is cast as Snow White in the school play and lands a spot as the leggy drum majorette leading the marching band. She sets hearts aflutter, but not, it seems, the school’s soccer star. She tries to do everything to make her get noticed by the boy she loves, in the hope of him turning around to look at her just one more time.

Here's the trailer even though it's a 2010 movie. I hope there will be a sequel. I read on the internet there is one. ^^

127 Hours, Bowling and Rock Cafe

How funny I look in this photo.

Last Friday, my uni-mates and I went for a night trip to Alor Setar. A trip like that cost more than going home to Penang. But I did had fun although I have to say, I was totally freaked out by the way someone drove. Excuse me, I value my life even if you don't. It was raining damn heavily and you drove like 120km/h. Please remind me next time not to sit in that car.

We went for dinner at Rock Cafe which looks nice. The food was just okay though. I shall update about it next time. And oh..we went for midnight bowling. I won :)

We went to watch the 9.15pm screening of 127 Hours. I knew the story behind this movie but watching on a big screen was pretty gruesome. The whole movie is about Aron Ralston, a mountain climber who became trapped by a boulder in Robbers Roost, Utah , for more than five days in early 2003 before amputating his arm with a dull knife. The movie is true story for those of you who don't know about it.

As I knew the whole story it was a bit less suspense to me considering I knew that he will cut his arm and survives. The people in the cinema was seating at the edge of their seats watching the movie I think. It seems pretty interesting for a mostly one-man movie. We can see James Franco, the actor basically almost alone the whole movie.

This whole movie is about Aron, how he got trapped by a boulder and stuck there for 127 hours with only his mountain climbing gear, a multi-tool (which he use to chip away the boulder but it was useless), a walkman, video camera, a bottle of water and some food. As he didn't notify anyone about where he is going, he was only waiting for death to come because his hand was stuck and no one was around for miles.

So, while bordering hallucination and sanity, his past memories and experiences of his life appears in front of him. He began to dream of the future where he sees himself without an arm but living happily with a son. We see him getting serious about really dying there and leaves a message to his family. (I admire his way of being calm and planning his 'escape' from the boulder.) Thus, after five days, he finally gathered enough courage to amputate his arm by breaking it against the boulder and then slowly cutting through it using the blunt knife and pliers. (The scene in the movie was way gruesome especially when he was cutting through his flesh and muscles. Gross~)

Almost bleeding to death, he has to rappel down from the mountain and hike several miles before finally finding a family of hikers that saves him.

The movie ends with real photos and footage of the real Aron Ralston still climbing mountains and including the son who he claims save his life as he decided he wanted to live and see the son that he has dreamt of during his 127 hours.

Would you have had the courage to amputate your arm if you were stuck underneath a boulder? I find myself thinking that if I was trapped, I guess I would have done the same thing as he did if I really found no other option but the fact is it would be so so painful that I don't know if I would have the same courage like he did to do all that.

A Tangled Tale...

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair.

How many of you have heard of this sentence?

I'm a fairytale fanatic..I love reading those Happily Ever After stories. Rapunzel wasn't exactly my favourite fairytale but I've read of it.

These days, fairytales no longer means a prince saving a princess or a damsel in distress from evil and fall in love with them. Nowadays, they start by hating each other then cooperate to gain their own interest then eventually falls in love..haha.

The story started when Gothel, a evil old woman witness a drop of sunlight hit the ground and turn into a magical flower. Gothel discover that when someone sings to the flower, it has the power to heal or turn someone old like her young. She selfishly hid the flower even when the queen of the land was dying from child-birthing. Fortunately, the guards found it and the queen safely delivered a princess, Rapunzel. Gothel stole the princess when she found out she holds the power of the flower and stash her into a high tower with only windows. Knowing that cutting Rapunzel's long hair will lead to loss of power, the child was raised up as a daughter and advise to never leave the tower because evil people might steal her powers.

(OMG...this synopsis is real long) With the loss of the princess, the King and Queen float thousand of lanterns into the skies every year on her birthday to pray for her safe return. Rapunzel who sees it every year as star lights wishes to see it floating up. Rapunzel having grown up was very artistic and loves painting. She's beautiful with extremely long golden hair and smart. The evil Gothel still assumes identity as her mother and tells Rapunzel that there are many evil people who will capture her for her healing abilities and forbid her from ever leaving the tower.

Meanwhile in the kingdom, Flynn Rider aka Eugene Fitzherbert stole the tiara of the lost princess and was in pursue from the guards. Abandoning his accomplices, he stumbles into Rapunzel's tower and meets Rapunzel. Frightened, Rapunzel hits him with a pan knocking him unconscious. Thinking she can manipulate Flynn to helping her see the lights, she told Gothel that she knew what she wanted for her birthday, the expensive white paint a few days away from the tower. Gothel agrees thinking Rapunzel would stay. Rapunzel hid the tiara and asked Flynn for help in return she shall give him back the tiara.

Rapunzel manage to make a bargain with Flynn to take her to the lights and they undergo an adventure in their journey to the lanterns. Gothel discovered Rapunzel was missing from all the commotion and found her in the tavern called Snuggly Duckling which reminds me of Ugly Duckling. Maximus, a guard's horse relentless in his search for Flynn follows creating havoc in the tavern and causing a dam to break. In a dangerous moment, Rapunzel reveal to Flynn of her abilities and enables them to escape safely. They manage to reach the kingdom and watch the lanterns together. Gothel however with help from Flynn's accomplices tricked Rapunzel into thinking Flynn abandon her for the tiara. Heart broken, she went back to the tower with Gothel.

Flynn was sentenced to death, learning the treachery from the henchmen. Fortunately for him, the tavern regulars saved him and Maximus takes him to find Rapunzel. Meanwhile, Rapunzel discovers she is the lost princess. She confronted Gothel but was tied up by Gothel. Flynn reaches the tower and upon entering finds Rapunzel all tied up. He is stabbed by Gothel and dying. Rapunzel pleaded with Gothel that she will remain with Gothel forever as long as she allos her to save him. Flynn however cuts off Rapunzel's hair destroys the healing power and rather dies than have her trapped forever with Gothel. With the loss of the healing power, Gothel turns old and in hysteria, she trips over Rapunzel's hair and fell out of the window turning into dust before reaching the ground. Flynn tells Rapunzel he loves her and succumb to his wounds. Tearful, Rapunzel sings the magic healing songs and a single tear falls to his cheek miraculously healing him.

They return to the castle and Rapunzel got reunited with her family. In time, Flynn and Rapunzel get married, and live happily ever after as the pub thugs fulfill their individual aspirations, and Maximus becomes a respected official on the Royal Guard. The END.

Happily ever after exists in reality right? I hope so too...haha. Long review right? It's more like a long winding synopsis. I took me an hour and a half to write this. to remember what was in the movie. I love fairytales so it nice. I got a great laugh and ate popcorn until my stomach almost exploded in the cinema. It was great. Jjang!! ^__^

The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader

I watch this last week. I can't remember much now. (Short term memory...haiz..)

But it was interesting. Prince Caspian...good looking as always...haha. I'm too lazy to write the review now, so I'm giving you the synopsis from some website I read from and a bit of what I can remember. Haha.

The story centers around Edmund and Lucy returning to Narnia this time with their whiny cousin Eustace (He's so annoying...I feel like hitting him.) where they meet up with Prince Caspian, now King Caspian, on board the Narnia ship the Dawn Treader. I like how they enter the world. Very creatively every single time. The painting of Dawn Treader, the vessel at sea started to flow out into Lucy's room and slowly fill the room with water to flood everything. Then poof...when they emerge from the water, they are at Narnian world. ^^

With years of peace enjoyed in Narnia, they are unsure why they are there but soon find themselves on an adventure to battle a mysterious force that threatened Narnia where they face slavers, dragons, temptation, serpents, and learn to become greater than they ever thought they could be. Lucy learns that being herself is what matters most. Edward learns to overcome his fears and Eustace learns to stop being mean and make friends.

The movie has funny moments and also the moments that make your eyes misty. I think through this movie, we all have a lesson to learn from. Don't be greedy for money (gold) or you'll turn into a gold statue or a dragon. Learn to face for fears and just be yourself.

Step Up 3

I went to watch Step Up 3 this afternoon. Unfortunately there was no 3D movie for us here in Penang to watch. The movie was quite okay. The dances moves were awesome but the plot was just okay for me. The 1st and 2nd movie, they have a much solid plot but Step 3 has great dancers and very nice dance moves and choreography. There was a scene in the movie that I really like. The one where they dance in the fountain with water. That was really fantastic.

Basically the movie is about dancing and how dancing influence people's life. The meaning of dance to some people and the beauty of dance.

"People dance because dance can change things. One move, can bring people together. One move, can make you believe like there's something more. One move, can set a whole generation free. "

I saw a few dancers I know like Joshua and Twitch from So You Think You Can Dance. They are really awesome dancers. I read from the cast that there's also Katee, Legacy, Ashlee and the others. I didn't notice Katee :( I like her too.


If you like dancing or watching people dance then you'll like Step Up 3. The movie make you want to stand up and dance along. I know I wanted to. The dance moves were Wow...the robotic moves were amazing and the popping, breaking and locking was jjang!!

Love in Disguise 恋爱通告

Have any of you watch Lee Hom's directorial debut yet? Go watch it!! Support my Lee Hom!!!

I assume plenty of you know that I adore Lee Hom. If you don't, then you know now. He sings with his heart, charitable, with a great smile and is so handsome and yet seems so humble to me. And yes, I find myself having a penchant to listening to him speaking English. It sounds so sexy...hahahaha

The film is about superstar singer Du Minghan (Lee Hom), who disguises himself as Ah Duh or Mahamoduh (LOL...what a name), an undergraduate at a music conservatory so that he can pursue a woman he meet during an accident who plays music that is heavenly to his ears. Well he actually sees visions of himself flying or seeing butterflies when he listens to her plays the Gu Zheng. She's Song Xiaoqing (Liu Yifei), whom he has a crush on. I watched while laughing away at Ah Duh antics studying music in the school and balancing his career in music.

As much as I like Lee Hom and this movie was kind of fun and romantic to me, I find the storyline a bit predictable. I'm trying to give unbiased opinions but well this is after all only his 1st directorial debut. He'll learn more and become greater. Shall I say I can think like and read Lee Hom's mind well to be able to predict a few scenes? Hahaha...so maybe it isn't the storyline being predictable rather me knowing Lee Hom eh? ^__^

But I can truly see the effort he has made and the way he's introducing Chinese arts and music to people. He's a serious musician and now a serious director. He want people to know more about the Chinese arts like Opera or traditional Chinese music through this movie. Also the scenes with those paparazzi, I think this is his way of saying "I don't give a sh*t about what you write of me". This movie is so much Lee Hom because he actually incorporate the idea of him dealing with paparazzi, his 'Chinked-out' music, the "gay" issue and so much of his songs. Albeit, I wanted to hear more of his songs in the movie.

I love the songs in the movie. Especially adored 你不知道的事, "All The Things You Never Knew”. It's the theme song of the movie. The lyrics were amazing. The melody is so beautiful. Listening to the song makes me feel so warm and touched. Lee Hom's lyrics is always meaningful. So going to buy his album when I have the chance to. ^___^

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Went out yesterday to watch Prince of Persia. I love the movie. I have wanted to watch it since I saw the poster. Hahaha....it can only be because

1. I love the title (It just attracts me. I don't know why. ^_^)
2. I like Jake Gyllenhaal since I saw him in The Day After Tomorrow and because he is really cute. ^__^ (He looks really hawt in the movie...LOL)
3. Gemma Arterton I have to say have this exotic looks that I think is really unique and I like her from the Clash of the Titans.
4. I heard that it is from a video game and I love fantasy and adventure movies. Don't you?
   
5. The poster looks bloody amazing.

After watching the movie, I like it even more. Great chemistry between the two leads and they look beautiful together. They make a handsome couple. ^__^ I love the scenery in this movie. The deserts, mountains and the city were just too picturesque. It almost feel like I'm really in olden Persia.

It all started when a boy who lived in the streets was adopted by the king and becomes Prince Dastan. The prince grew up and together with his brothers leading the Persian army to attack the holy city of Alamut under assumption that they were selling weapons to Persian enemies. Dastan managed to win the fight without having too much casualties and obtain a dagger, the mystical Dagger of Time which he has no idea of its power. The city was invaded and its princess, Princess Tamina was captured. She was then offered as a wife for Prince Tus, Dastan's brother. The Persian celebrate the victory but Dastan was fooled into giving a gift to his father, the King who then died from poison of the gift.

Dastan was then hunted accused of the murder of his father. He together with Princess Tamina, who seized the opportunity to escape and get the dagger back. They managed to escaped and learning from the princess the true motives of the invasion of Alamut, they embark on a journey where Dastan sets to prove his innocence and the Princess to safeguard the dagger which can control time when it is filled with the sands of time. The sands of time is actually sand in a huge sand-glass which has the power to turn back time but if unleashed and uncontrolled can destroy the world.

Robin Hood

This version of Robin Hood tells the story of the legend of Robin Hood before he becomes Robin Hood. He was Robin Longstride, an archer in King's Richard's army which is currently in France in a long strenuous war that left everyone bone-tired. King Richard died from an arrow that struck him at the neck and Robin together with Will Scarlett, Alan-a-Dale and Little John decided to hurry back to England.

On the way home, they encounter Robert Loxley who is ambushed in an attack by Geoffrey who plans with the french to invade England. Loxley, dying asks Robin to deliver the crown and returns his sword to his father Walter in Nottingham. Robin disguised himself as Robert Loxley and manage to sail back to England and delivers the crown and John was crowned King John, Richard's useless, mean and greedy brother. He then continues his way to Notthingham to deliver the sword to Walter and encounters with Marion, Robert Loxley's wife. Walter then asks Robin to impersonate Robert so that his land will not be confiscated by the crown.

Geoffrey meanwhile worms his way into the King's service and acts as the new Marshall to collect taxes and using the name of King John tries to stir oppositions on the King by burning down villages and killing innocent villagers to create havoc in England in hopes of making it easier for the French. Walter who knew Robin's father tells him about his father who wrote "Rise and rise again until lambs become lions" and hopes to unite the barons for a better society and make England a fairer country for all. Unfortunately, Walter was killed by Geoffrey in a raid at Notthingham. Robin together with the barons and the King John rallied and successfully thwarts the invasion of the French and avenged Walter by putting an arrow straight into Geoffrey.

King John who had promised a fairer country for all when the barons rallied backs out of his promise and declared Robin as an outlaw and to be hunted for the rest of his life. Thus, together with his friends and Marion, Robin joins the orphans who made a life in the greenwood and live as Robin Hood which is where the legends begins.

There's been a few version of Robin Hood. There's Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and a funny comedy version Robin Hood: Men in Tights which was really funny and stupid. I watch both version and like them both. Can't compare them because they don't tell the same story. One is before the legend and the other two was after. It's up to you to decide which you like more.

Me...I prefer the funny one as it gave me lots of laughter because it was plain stupid...LOL

Shrek Forever After...

Went for a movie marathon on Thursday. I watched Shrek Forever After and Robin Hood.

Seems like the month of May is a month for movies for me.

Shrek was nice. Some parts were kind of boring for me but it was overall kind of funny. A few jokes here and there that would bring laughter to the audiences. I watched it in 3D too. My first 3D movie in the GSC cinema.

After rescuing the princess from the dragon and saving the kingdom and going through lot's of other adventures, Shrek finally gets to live happily ever after...or does he?

Waking every morning to those little ogre babies and having to be nice to everyone and not be the ogre that scares everyone is becoming too much for Shrek until he exploded. He was then conned into making a deal with Rumpelstiltskin to take away a day for a day of becoming the ogre that everyone is scared off. Shrek is then transported into a weird world where ogres are hunted, Rumpelstiltskin is King and Fiona never met Shrek and becomes this warrior ogre that fight for freedom for ogres.

In order to get back the life he always have, Shrek has to undo all these and make Fiona falls in love with him and restore the world back in order.

It's like you never miss something until it is gone. That's how Shrek felt when he didn't have his wife and kids that he missed it all. He tries to get it all back but will it be too late?

Iron Man 2

Okay, I watch this last week. I can't really remember much now but I felt that the sequel was not as nice as the 1st movie. You see, when sequels come out, we always have that anticipating in the air because we watched the 1st movie and felt it was so great that we expect more from the 2nd one. Even if the 2nd movie was nice we would not have felt satisfied anyway.

Never anticipate I tell you.

After saying that, I actually thought the sequel was nice but could have been better. The show started with Tony Stark being this famous dude now after revealing he is Iron man and all is fulfilling his father's dream of opening Stark Expo that showcase the world's best technologies. Tony Stark is however being demanded by the government to hand over the Iron Man suit. He refused and with his arrogant ways humiliating the minister and making it a joke.

Tony is however suffering from palladium poisoning from the reactor in his body and decided to do whatever he want because he thinks he was dying and all. In the midst of it all, we can see an enemy, Ivan Vanko who wants revenge for his father who actually co-created the reactor. Ivan created a reactor of his own with whips trying to kill Tony. Ivan was arrested but was break out of prison by Tony's rival Justin Hammer who wants to beat Tony in the technologies. Hammer is actually a total jerk and a moron, he kind of sucks in the technologies actually but he breaks Ivan out to help him create his own line of drones to rival Tony's Iron Man.

Tony however thinks he's dying so he appointed Pepper as CEO and he does whatever he wanted, throwing parties, misuse of his Iron Man suit and all. Erm...I almost forgot about Natalie Rushman (Scarlett Johansson). She's really hot and all in this film. Great body shape and what an amazing figure...very sexy. She came out as Pepper's secretary.

During Tony's birthday party, Tony got drunk in his Ironman suit prompting Rhodes to subdue him using another Ironman suit, almost destroying the whole house and all. Tony feeling disgraced was then approached by Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. who provides him with things from his father that helps save Tony's life as it contains important info to create a new reactor using a new element.

Hammer however thinking he finally can reveal his masterpieces in Stark Expo actually creates havoc as it turns out Ivan controls all the drones. Tony came with the improvised version of Iron Man to fight of all the drones. Rhodes was caught in between as his own suit was being controlled by Ivan but he tries his best to help Tony. This part was the most exciting to me but I wish they have added more of the fight between Tony and Ivan.

So in the end, Tony manage to defeat Ivan but with help from Natalie who breaks into Hammer Industries to gain back control over the drones. Natalie breaking in was cool in a way. Tony combined with Rhodes finally manage to win Ivan Vanko. However the drones were installed with self destructing devises that almost killed Pepper if Tony did not manage to save her in time.

The end was pretty funny as the minister who despises Tony to the bone have to honour Rhodes and Tony medals for bravery. Just looking at his forced smile was real funny.

What a long summary....finally done...haha. I wanted to write this for days but was too lazy. It was done in a rush...well at least I satisfy myself by actually writing something.

Movie Time...

Look how cute the dragon is....

I watched two movies in a day in the midst of having examinations. How To Train Your Dragon (HTTYD) and Clash of the Titans. Both were in my opinion fascinating.

I didn’t expect HTTYD to be that nice but it was. It was funny at the same time it teaches you something. The moral of the story, just be yourself and not be afraid to stood to what you believe in. Not to mention the dragon is so cute. The animation was not too bad too. I like it the most when Hiccup (the main character) flew up into the skies with Toothless (the dragon called Black Fury). I can almost imagine myself flying with them through the clouds and twisting and turning across the skies. It was a fun story.

Clash of the Titans was fascinating because I’ve always been really fond about Greek and Roman Mythology. In a glance, I would have thought the movie was boring. Frankly speaking, the whole movie is almost in muted colours like white, black, tan, and gray was kind of dull but the muted colours did bring out the bleak events. Still, it does tell a great story and since I have nothing to compare with considering I didn’t watch the old Clash of the Titans movie, I’ll say the story was good but could be better. Due to the bookworm in me, I did recognize a few characters from books I have read before. I’m really fond of stories and through the limited books in the school library, there’s still much about these legends and even all those mythology in Asia. Well, if anyone doesn’t know Zeus, I’ll say he/she must be living under a nutshell because Zeus is so famous you must have at least heard of him once.

Well, now I’m going back into my books or rather notes because I still have to study for the last two papers in two days time with perseverance. After watching two of the movies, I have learnt a valuable lesson from both of them. To succeed in anything you do, you must always persevere.

14 Blades

Watch 14 Blades just now. It’s actually not bad. I understand how it has low ratings in the box office during the New Year. That’s because the story is unsuitable during CNY time. It is more of a story of a warrior and the fight for the kingdom’s future. The betrayal of a fellow comrade and the plan to take over the kingdom seems really moody for CNY. During CNY, of course people will prefer happy or funny movies compare to 14 Blades.

One of the reasons I like this movie is because I like Zhao Wei...haha. Never stop liking here since Huan Zhu Ge Ge. The kung fu in this movie is fantastic. Love the fighting scenes. I really don’t like Kate Tsui though. Kinda annoying to see why she cannot die till the end. I know how an enemy will die last but really with all those wounds, she still can’t die. It’s too bad Wu Chun died in the movie. Hahaha…not a bad bandit he is. If he doesn’t speak he look really cool….LOL. Once he starts talking, his acting skills just went down. I like his blade a lot though. The double end blade is real cool.

A JinYiWei’s life is real short. Too bad Donnie Yen dies in the end. It would have been better if he survives. Well, I like happy endings so I’ll prefer him not dying but him dying was what I have expected from the starting of the film.

Hot Summer Days

Now we are heading East for another star-studded romance comedy from directors Tony Chan and Wing Shya. Hot Summer Days like its American counterpart follows the entwined stories of various couples as they embark on the arduous journey to find true love.

This story started with the beginning of summer where the temperature is sweltering hot. The heat provokes different emotion from everyone and well people always say summer changes everyone. There’s Jacky Cheung and Rene Liu who Jacky mistakenly sent an SMS and they starting knowing each other and end up together. Through those SMS-es, they communicate with each other through fake identities but with true feelings. Finally realising their true selves they still fell in love. Through each other, they learn to live with their own lives.

Then we meet up with Barbie Hsu and Nicholas Tse who met thorugh a motorcycle collision. Barbie living each day as her last might be today and Nic an air-con repairman earning money when the summer is so hot falling for each other slowly. There’s also Vivian Hsu and Daniel Wu. Vivian is Wasabi who is in love with Chef Daniel who in spite of loving her is just too stubborn and obnoxious to admit it. After her leaving him, he finally realises he misses her and find a way to win her back. Angela baby and Jing Boran is a couple back in the olden times. Boran is required to stand 100 days for Angela to accept him. How poverty interferes with their love and love just triumph over it.

All of this adds to the story of love, on how love can change our lives. The whole movie dealt with different persona that we can see the different aspects of being in love with someone. Some parts of the movie were funny, some parts almost make me tear up and some parts makes you think. I really like the movie and the great cast of actors just make it greater. Lots of part to make you laugh, cry or just go “Awww”. Lots of cameo from famous stars too like Charlene Choi, Shawn Yue, and Maggie Cheung who appears in the sushi restaurant to cry and laments on her love life. The credits will only read Miss Cheung but we all know who she is of course.

Valentine's Day

Double dose of romance in these two movies, Valentine's Day and Hot Summer Days. It is up to you people to decide if it was nice or not. I thought both of them were good. If I have to choose which was better, I would say Hot Summer Days.

Valentine’s Day is an English romance/chick-flick/comedy with an amazing cast of famous superstars like Julia Roberts, Jennifer Garner, Taylor Swift, Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, Queen Latifah, Patrick Dempsey, Ashton Kutcher, Anne Hathaway, Topher Grace and so many more. Thus, it made the movie a star-studded show.

I like the main theme of the story, LOVE. Love exists in many ways whether it is between two lovers or family or friends. It doesn’t care what age, race, or gender you are. This movie tells you the perspective of love from different persona. Through the movie, you can see people like Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner, both high school students in the movie who are crazy in love with each other and just plain idiotic in their actions as they are blinded by love. Taylor Swift was just so different in the movie as she acts like a bimbo airhead in the film. Julia Roberts plays a soldier who also is a mother to a kid that hasn’t seen her for quite awhile. She was flying back to see her son and meets another character in the film who seemingly hates V-day for some reason. Ashton and Jennifer as best friends who eventually realise they are in love with each other. Jessica Biel plays someone who hates V-day and hosts a I Hate V-day Party which was hilarious.

The characters are actually connected to each others in many ways. I like how sometimes there’s really something funny in the movie that makes you laugh yet there are times when you can feel the love in the movie that just makes you want to go “Awwww”.
Watch it if you believe in love and only if you like this kind of romantic, funny and mushy movie.

Sherlock Holmes

1st of all since I have never read Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's novels, I don't exactly know what the original Sherlock Holmes is like. All I know is that he is a crime solving detective with a sidekick Dr Watson. That's pretty much what I know.

Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock Holmes and Jude Law as Dr Watson. Watching the movie on Christmas Eve. I must say as it was at night I was kind of sleepy, for one second I thought I was going to fall asleep because I was too tired. Luckily, the film kept me awake. Action packed film filled with mystery. I like the way they solve mystery with the detective works and the dialogue was very interesting. I especially love the play of words.For example, there is a time in the movie when Holmes was handcuff naked to the bed by Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams) and was found by the chambermaid.

Holmes is handcuffed to the bed naked with only a pillow covering him. A maid walks in and screams]
Sherlock Holmes: Madame, I need you to remain calm and trust me, I'm a professional. Beneath this pillow lies the key to my release.
[the maid screams again and runs away]

Did anyone get it? Hahahaha....that was funny to my perverted mind...teehee...There were many jokes in between the dialogues using the play of words that if you are fast enough to catch it then you'll realise it. Some parts were meant to be funny and some a little serious.

It was a good movie to be watch if you like actions and a slight comedy combined. The science in this movie is also pretty amazing. How people that time can mistaken science for magic because they knew too little about it. The villian in the movie, Blackwood manipulate the art of science to frighten masses of citizens and try to take over Britain. Holmes trying to find a way to stop him with help from Dr Watson. Besides crime solving, there is a story in the movie which was Dr Watson's engagement to Mary which Holmes disapproves and offended but who is actually really a nice woman. There's also the introduction of Irene Adler, who I was really surprised to be acted by Rachel McAdams, who looks really beautiful by the way. Cunning and the only person to fool Holmes twice and still managed to make him look like a lovesick fool. She has a mission to find something for a Professor Moriarty who was not seen in this movie except for his pistol and cape thus I sense a sequel coming after this. Hahaha.

So, once again Sherlock Holmes solves a crime and save Britain with the help of Dr Watson and gave us one fine show to watch. A movie well suited for the holiday seasons. Nice.

The Storm Warriors

Have you watch it? I watched it the first day it was out.

Lots and lots of graphics and animations. The animations and special effects didn't ruin the movie but actually makes it more realistic. I admit it exaggerates some stuff but this movie is from a comic, so it can be a bit unreal at times but that's what makes it nice.

It's also nice to see some of my favourite actors in the movie like Nicholas Tse and Charlene Choi. Wind (Ekin Cheng) character's is a character I like a lot. The martial art moves were spectacular in the movie with the addition of special effects. The moves were amplified by the drops of water or the wind which I think make it real. Really really great visual effects.

What I didn't like from the movie was draggy martial fighting...I almost fell asleep when they fought too long. The whole story was also with very little dialogue emphasising I think more on facial expression. Dialogues...I like to see more of Charlene speaking...hahaha...

So, thumbs up for the visual effects and martial moves....go watch it for the visual effects because they are really cool and even though they are so much older than they are in the 1st movie, Cloud and Wind still as fit and I think looks a lot like the ones in the comics. Thumbs down though for draggy fight scenes with very little dialogue scenes that tends to make people feel bored and sleepy ^_^.

Whether it is nice or not is depend on you. It pretty much was just an okay for me. The 1st movie was better but it doesn't mean you can't watch the 2nd movie to see what's it all about.

The Gamer

Let's get started with my blog with another movie review...

Went to watch The Gamer yesterday.

I didn't have much expectation going in to the cinema because The Gamer was actually my 3rd choice movie of that day...haha. i knew a bit of the story line and basically it was almost like I imagine it would be. It wasn't bad.

In The Gamer, human can control other humans. Ken Castle the creator of Society, an online community in which gamers pay to control a real person in a pseudo community, much like current simulated worlds such as Second Life. Those who work as characters in Society are paid for their participation, unlike Castle's latest creation, Slayers. Slayers allows gamers to control death row prisoners in mass-scale death matches. The prisoners were controlled by a chip planted in their head called the nanite. The nanite would self multiply eventually replacing all your brain cells making you follow any instructions giving by the one controlling you. The story sets around Kable (Gerard Butler) who is an inmate on the death row that is put into the game and has won 27 matches controlled by Simon Silverton(Logan Lerman) who is just 17 wit loads of money. This game called The Slayers is basically a game filled with gore, death and violence and if you win 30 matches then you are free from your sentence. Definitely one movie for the above 18 and not below that age.

The mind control thing is just so wrong. You can control a human being just by a chip in their head. Even if the inmates are soon to be serving their death row sentences I disagree that we can use them as entertainment and play them like you are playing a computer game albeit giving them a chance of freedom if they won 30 matches. I mean, they are human being with feelings and all. Seeing people control other is like a dictator mind controlling you and telling you what you should and shouldn't do. The movie shows the nad side of technology. When used in a wrong way, it can have a very disastrous effect.

The violence in the movie is way a lot. It just show how evil humans could be if they want to I guess. The movie was kinda short and I think the ending was too abrupt. As we suddenly found out that Kable whose real name is Tillman was planted the chip and sentences to death because he killed his friend in cold blood but it was all because of Ken castle who manipulate him using the nanite.

Reviews- Transformer: Revenge Of The Fallen

Transformers was nice. I was pretty excited to watch it. I admit I was just a tad bit dissapointed not because it wasn't good but because I actually expected more. I think I'm someone who people 'beri betis nak paha' haha. One thing is the movie was pretty long about 2 and a half hour. So it tends to be a bit draggy.

I like the old robot..the one who holds a 'tongkat'. I wish they elaborate more on him. I think the jokes were quite funny but of course a bit dirty as well. Definitely not suitable for kids...haha. I like watching the cars as well. I wish I had one like Bumble Bee. Chervolet....I want one. Somebody buy me one for my 21st birthday please.....I don't even mind if it's one of the twin cars...nice also...haha

Overall the storyline was okay.How come no one knew that on some planet very near to earth there lives The Fallen?? Or why no one knows there is a weapon of destruction that size is inside the pyramid?? I mean someone must have use a metal detector or some x-ray device at some point to see what a pyramid is inside. So, stuff like that weakens the plot a bit and makes the storyline wavers. I still like the 1st movie more but this one was not bad....can be improved though.

Blood: The Last Vampire

The movie was just okay. It tends to be a bit draggy at times. Especially the fight scene where Saya takes on all those demons alone. Fight scenes can be fun and interesting but when something like that drags for more than 20 minutes (I think it was more...I didn't take down the time) it can be a bit boring. It makes it less believable that she can fight alone without help for such a long long time even if she is a 400 years old half-vampire that looks 16.


Saya (Gianna Jun) looks 16 but is actually a 400 years old hafling, half vampire half human. She survives on blood too but she ain't like the monsters she kills. She doubts herself thinking she might be like them but what she has is a soul, a human soul that makes her special. The main motive she kills vampires is for revenge against Onigen who killed her father hundreds of years ago. The whole movie is okay mainly because of Gianna who looks good fighting and her acting skills are not bad. The monsters sucks. Especially the flying ones. They look fake to me. It also turns out that Onigen is actually Saya's mom and while Koyuki looks really beautiful as Onigen, the black ink blood was a bit weird for me. Black ink blood on her white pure kimono....totally spoils the whole outfit...haha. There's also Alice McKee (Allison Miller) in the movie who should at least help kill vampires rather than just screaming all the time. Every single time she sees one she screams...well that maybe the fact she's a human and never seen a vampire before but her screaming is way too much for me and I thought she learnt some moves in kendo class??

Ohh, of course in the end, good triumphs over evil and Saya defeated Onigen. Yet she is trapped in some kind of mirror world which the movie didn't over much explanation to stupid viewers like me who don't understand why she isn't out from there or how she gotten in the mirror with Alice and why Alice is the only one out from it and currently in a physcho ward being given evaluation for her mental health.


P.S. I think the movie is from an anime or manga if I'm not mistaken. I'm not sure but I know there's an anime playing on Animax recently with the same title. That might be it.

17 Again.....

In 1989, Michael O'Donnell was a star basketball athlete with a birght future ahead. He seemingly had it all. Right before the championship last game with the scout watching his game, his girlfriend Scarlet informed him she was pregnant. In that moment, he made the decision to throw everything away (including basketball and a chance at a scholarship) and proposed to her.

Twenty years later, Mike's life was a disaster. He is separated from Scarlet and staying with his geeky but millionaire, best friend Ned Gold. His career is at a standstill and his kids Maggie and Alex want nothing to do with him. He visits Hayden High School to reminisce about the life before he made that decision and while he was there, he encounters the mysterious janitor who ask him if he wishes he was 17 again and he said yes. On the way home, he fell from a bridge and is magically transformed back into his 17-year old self.....

The whole movie was interesting and funny. Zac Efron was really cool and very handsome. His eyes are WOW.....so mesmerising.....haha.O.o He's a good actor too. I really love the part at the court where he was holding a paper telling Scarlet about his true feelings. I was really touched at his words and proves Zac is really good at acting. You should go and watch it as it is really a fun movie which will make you laugh and also make you feel touched..
