WenChuan, China's earthquake and Myanmar's cyclone

WenChuan's earthquake

Myanmar's cyclone

If you read the newspapers or see the news on television, you will feel the sadness and the despair of the victims of May 12, 2008 WenChuan earthquake. It's so sad and I cried watching these news and reading the newspapers. The childrens especially, who are still trapped in their schools. I feel so sad and helpless watching these news. 6000 classrooms.....some of these schools were mostly not strong enough to survive earthquakes. Reports are that they can hear cries of these childrens but these voices are slowly dimming away. Survivors are a small numbers. Those still missing numbered up to hundreds of thousand. The numbers of death are rising by the minute. Currently there are a death toll of around 18000 people and the number is rising. Search and rescue and relief teams are helping to save more lives and taking care of survivors. If you seen the pictures of the still body of these children being pulled out from the ruined building, you will cry. Even childrens who are rescued out needs to have their legs amputated to save their lives. Some died before the reach hospitals. It's so heartbreaking. China needs help. Give donations. They need provisions, food, water, quilts, tents, medical provisions and et cetera. Even survivors are running for their lives as the dams are leaking and could break down anytime now. Natural disasters are happening one by one. Before the China's earthquake was the Myanmar's cyclone disaster that has killed hundreds of thousands. People need help everywhere. Myanmar needs help. China needs help. At least China's government is accepting help. Myanmar's goverment is not accepting and rejecting some foreign help. Isn't saving lives what that matters? Screw political issues....save lives first. What is important is giving aid to these victims. Epidemic diseases are spreading and they need clean places to live and clean water, food and safe tents and quilts. Kuddos to all those search and rescue teams, doctors and nurses, medical teams, social workers, volunteers....The Red Cross, Unicef and others are providing help to both country. They are the heroes of today.
What's next? All of these makes me think the world is coming to an end. One disaster after another. All the things we can do now is hope and pray for the victims. We should also prepare for the worst disasters that has yet to come. I sound so pessimistic I know....I can't help it especially with recent events happening everyday in this world. Who knows I might become a victim next.

Unacceptable crime of the century....

I think almost everyone would have known by now about this crime. Josef Fritzl an Austrian imprisoned her daughter, Elisabeth for 24 years under his small basement and raped her continuously. He even fathered 7 children with her. This act of incest really bring a huge outcry from the public and how someone like Fritzl managed to imprisoned his daughter when she was 18 years old till now for 24 years remains a huge question. Why didn't she tried to escaped or ask for help somehow....she had 24 years to try to do something didn't she? Or why hasn't anyone questions the letters she wrote or questions her whereabouts...didn't anyone care for her?

Fritzl is now trying to claim insanity for his crime. Do you think he should be declared insane? He is NOT INSANE. He's just in my opinion a really sick, perverted and abusive man who wants total control over his family. When Elisabeth starts rebelling, he imprisoned her to control her. He himself has said a few thing that I think should have point out to people that he is not insane. Instead he is a monster who hides behind a facade. He claims he isn't a monster as people thinks he is and has done his best keeping her in the basement and trying to spend time with her and the childrens. Do you think that would be enough to compensate the life up on top of the basement he stole from her and those innocent children who never seen daylight? He claims he was trying to protect her from the rest of the world. Me thinks he was just trying to stop her from escaping his world. He did say himself that imprisoning her in his basement means it was his kingdom, his world that no one would get in. He just didn't want her to leave his world.

To me, I think that he should be given the heaviest punishment allowed regardless whether he is insane or not...Nothing less than life imprisonment should be given to such a terrible monster. He was over obssessed with his daughter than he should have. He even said he knew he was hurting her and it was just like an addiction he can't stop. Well this to me isn't insanity. Instead it's just like smoking....people get addicted to smoking but do they claim because they are insane that's why they started smoking? No right...smoking is free-willed just like doing all those crime was on his free-will.

I would think that if it wasn't for the letter the doctors found that Elisabeth wrote to plead for the doctors to save her daughter, Kristin's life, no one would have found out about this until the day Fritzl died. She might have spent her whole life there and died in there too. Or he would have started raping the children he fathered with Elisabeth. This is so sick and immoral. Not only did he raped Elisabeth but he also imprisoned her for 24 years and gotten her with 7 children. Can you imagine the horrors she has been through? I can't. A crime like this is equivalent to those of genocides. He is no less a dictator than Adolf Hitler or Saddam Hussein. He rules over his family with iron fists. 24 years is a very long time...I'm not even 24....I cannot imagine those years she spend trapped in a small basement. If you have read the newpapers and read what Fritzl have said to defend himself, you would feel even more angered over his acts....his words were as if that he has done nothing wrong and that he has at least save those children he fathered instead of killing them....It's still bloody wrong, old man!!!! Justice has to be prevailed over this crime.

Nothng can be given to Elisabeth to make her forget those years she spend in the basement. it's something she and a few of her children have to deal with for the rest of their lives. All we can pray for is for her to stay strong. Justice always prevails over evil. I wish her lots of sunlight and lots of hope.

Ironman....

IRONMAN

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Or is it Superman? No.......it's Ironman!!! Hahaha. Just came back from the cinema from watching Ironman. It was the 7.45pm. movie in Cinema 9, seat G10....hehe...still remember as I just came back. It was quite an interesting movie....Robert Downey Jr. plays the character Tony Stark, wealthy industralist who creates and produce weapons for US military...(spoilers ahead...) He lives as the rich playboy ladies man but he is also a genius in creating super-high tech weapons. Tony flies to Afghanistan for a new weapon demostration called Jericho which by the way causes super destruction. On his way back to his plane, his convoy is attacked by terrorists, and Tony is wounded by his very own Stark Industries missile. He is captured and held hostage in a cave with Yinsen (Shaun Toub), a doctor who saves his life by planting some sort of magnetism device connected to a generator to his heart. The terrorists force Tony and Yinsen to reproduce the new destructive Jericho missile Tony was demonstrating from parts of other weapons. Using his own intelligence and creating a new kind of suit of armour with Yinsen's help he escaped....but unfortunately Yinsen died. The suit gives Tony the strength and protection to be able to escape the terrorists. Back in America, Tony builds a better suit of armour which gives him superhuman strength with the ability to fly. It was pretty cool to watch all the acts he does and also the kinks and failures of his armour before he finally suceeds. This prove to us nothing comes without hardwork and with the help of his personal assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and Air Force Lieut. Colonel Jim Rhodes (Terrence Howard), Tony will do anything to save the world from mass destruction or maybe from his very own creations? Of course the movie ends with Robert Downey Jr. saving the day and every superhero movie must end with a BANG!!! I really like the storyline and it was really exciting to see all the actions and Robert Downey Jr. is definitely a very great actor because he plays this role really well....I really like the armour too with it's very supercool colours and functions....bright red and gold titanium. I've never read the comics before but the movie ws really cool to me. Stan Lee makes a special apperance too as usual with women all flocking around him...(He is the comic creator....I think) This movie also shows us that war causes only harm to all of us....Weapons of destructions can only create more destructions even if it is to protect ourself from terrorists or harm....Tony Stark realised this in the movie and tries to salvage and correct his own mistakes. This is so true especially now in this world...we DONT need weapons of destructions we need peace and harmony.....So world peace everyone!!!!

( Ironman...sexy...haha)

(Robert Downey Jr...)

Also, Angelyn, my friend just came back from Canada for a break from her university studies and she also bought me a souvenir....it's some sort of a totem pole and is really nice. Angelyn went out with us to watch the movie and I really haven't seen her for so long....So thanks Angelyn for the gift......very special.....thanks for bringing back one. Okay got to go...my mum is urging me to give her computer back to her....tata......Watch Ironman....You'll love it.
